My apologies to those who are overloaded with Feri drama. If this is you, please feel free to skip this link. I find myself needing to post a rebuttal to some serious allegations that were made against me. | the 'bunnies abide (x-posted from my elljay journal) |
[Feb. 5th, 2011|09:02 am] |
i was asked last night whether i had any advice for the dustbunnies about the Great Feri/Faery Split.
well, no, i said, only what i have said all along: if you don't like the Lore (or the company you keep, or the rituals you do, or the way the gods treat you), go out and make some of your own. N.B.: i said "make," not "make UP"--big difference. witches, as terry pratchett said, are the ones who choose. we choose to follow our particular path. we choose our friends. we choose our teachers. we choose what to do, what to read, who to hang with, how to view the world, how to treat other people, where to take a stand. and the choice always comes with the knowledge that we could, if we Willed, choose differently. that there is always more than one option. that we are free.
the only rule that i try to stick to is to act with integrity and be consistent with my avowed principles--and if i find that impossible, to look very carefully at those principles and those avowals as determine whether they are consistent with my True Will. if they aren't, then they need to be amended. but in general this isn't going to happen. a constitutional amendment isn't easy or fast, and it takes a unanimous vote of all three souls.
not to say that i will never change my opinion on anything--that's not principled, that's dead. the moment i stop learning something new all the time is the moment i'm done with life. i don't want that to happen before i actually physically stop breathing, thanks. i have seen what petrified attitudes have done to people and groups, and i want none of that.
i also see that there is a tremendous amount of hypocrisy within feri: • people who write about how much they despise distance teaching who at the same time engage in it (yes, i'm talking to you, [redactedJ]).
• people who accuse, try, and execute, without ever knowing the facts of the case.
• people who use their initiate status to push non-initiates around and to gain political power within feri. (sorry, just because you are married to the gods doesn't mean i can believe every word you say. lots of people are married to the gods, and some of them aren't even feri initiates.)
• people who say they want privacy, and keep manufacturing new websites and magazines to show the whole world how very private they are, with a big neon sign over the door which flashes "WE AREN'T HERE!!!!".
• people who accuse me of all kinds of horrid things but do it on e-lists to which i don't subscribe, and who never once contact me directly to accuse me to my face. cowardly much? that doesn't seem to fit in with the feri "warrior ethic" about which i have heard so much and seen so little.
feh. i am justifiably annoyed, and i admit to a small spurt of rage whenever i see the icon of one of these people on facebook, but these little knee-jerk reactions are diminishing, and eventually will disappear, because all that crap is irrelevant. i have more important things to be getting on with, and (pratchett again) i can't be having with that sort of thing. and when i get together with the dustbunnies, as we did last night for a "family night," it is most soothing and delightful to know that the 'bunnies abide, and that we are doing our Work and causing ripples in the world. the forces of idiocy will not prevail.
do your Work. and let your Work color and permeate through your life. that's my advice. |

| new online feri class |
[Jan. 11th, 2010|03:05 pm] |
The second iteration of last year's wildly successful "Feritics" online class will begin in March. The new group will be called "the Wild Hares" and will have its own e-list. Anyone who was left out of the class last year, or anyone who is interested in studying Feri online with me should contact me offlist at v dot weatherwax at gmail dot com. The class is free. The text is also available as a free pdf from lulu.com, but you might want to buy it just to keep it neat & tidy. The lessons are sent out at the beginning of each month in pdf format; they are beautifully designed and comprehensive, calling on sources both in and out of Feri, as well as my own Qabalistic vision. The teachings are my own brand of Feri, and I encourage students to study with other teachers simultaneously in order to gain a balanced perspective. Here's the current curriculum:

| The Feri Goddesses of the Directions on FeriTradition.org |
[Jun. 26th, 2008|07:16 pm] |
The goddesses of the directions have long been urging me to expand their presence on feritradtion.org, so the time has come to ask for folk to submit their images, invocations, lore, poetry, personal visions and so forth. Rather than deal with material arriving to a variety of addresses please send it to witcheye@feritradition.org
Like the Guardians page http://www.feritradition.org/grimoire/lod/index.html I hope to make the section of the goddesses pages visually stimulating, so artwork would be ideal.
Haven't worked with the goddesses yet? Here are some resources giving you their names and images to aid and inspire you in making contact.
Valerie Walker's Faboo 'Feri Faq' at http://www.feritradition.org/FAQ.htm#deities
The Faery Rhodes site at http://www.geocities.com/Athens/Rhodes/5569/FaeDirectionGoddesses.html
Hail Aradia! Hail Tana! Hail Tiamat! Hail VerAvna! Hail those names yet to be discovered and uttered.
-Chas
P.S. Witch Eye was delayed due to Cora's passing, but will be made available in the following weeks. Also, her memorial page on FeriTradition.org is still in the works. |
